Angel Locsin won Best Actress at the PMPC Star Awards for Movies 2012

Posted on March 15, 2012 | 10:48 AM

Angel Locsin once again proved her worth as an actress after bagging the most coveted Movie Actress of the Year trophy for her stellar performance in the Star Cinema movie In The Name of Love (for the complete list of winners, click here). Angel Locsin showed an excellent performance in the said movie where her character seamlessly transit from a young to a more mature one.

Angel's character evolved so effortlessly and her break down scene with Aga Muhlach was really just perfect. Aga Muhlach also did a great job for his role, earning him also another Best Actor award.

Angel Locsin was nominated for another Best Actress award in the 2012 Golden Screen Awards (ENPRESS)  which will happen on March 24, again for the movie In The Name of Love. Angel will go head to head with Angeli Nicole Sanoy (Patikul), Fides Cuyugan Asencio (Niño), Ina Feleo (Ikaw Ang Pag-ibig), Jean Garcia (Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa) and Maja Salvador (Thelma) for the lead actress award in a drama movie.

With her superb acting shown in the movie, it is not impossible that Angel will clinch the Best Actress trophy from ENPRESS, a feat that indeed real actresses can accomplish.

What more can we expect of Angel this year? Perhaps she will have her comeback teleserye on Primetime but according to reports, there are talks that Angel will not be returning to TV soon as she was slated to do another movie with Star Cinema.

Angel Locsin Scores 2 Best Actress Nominations This Year

Posted on March 4, 2012 | 7:27 AM

Angel Locsin had proven that she is one of the best actresses of her generation by bagging 2 Best actress nominations from 2 award-giving bodies in the Philippines. The Unofficially Yours female lead had the nod of the Philippine Movie Press Club and Entertainment Press Society, Inc for her excellent performance in her Star Cinema film, In The Name of Love.

Angel Locsin might took one Best Actress award from either of the two award-giving bodies. Star Awards for Movies will happen on March 14 while the Golden Screen Awards will take place on March 24. For both awards night, Angel will be vying for actresses that had bring the trophy already but chances are, she may bring home an ENPRESS more than a STAR AWARD trophy.

In any way, Angel's transfer to the Kapamilya network brought forth acting opportunities and ground-breaking projects that led to her blossoming as a real actress. It may be recalled that Angel became the 2nd Filipina to be nominated as Best Actress in the International Emmys for her role as a wolf in Lobo (She-wolf: The Last Sentinel) which was also hailed as Best Telenovela in the 2009 BANFF World Television Festival in Canada.

Angel also continued to have box-office movies which are highly-acclaimed by film critics and movie goers. Her movie, In The Name of Love was also nominated for Best Picture in the above award-giving bodies where Angel was nominated. Her recent movie, Unofficially Yours is currently the no. 1 movie in the Philippines with more than a hundred million peso gross in just 10 days.

This year, we can expect a lot more of Angel in terms of movies and TV. She may not have projects after projects but the quality of her work and the level of the material is much more to compensate for this .
