Popstar Sarah Geronimo recently revealed that she is happy to remain as a Kapamilya star after signing a one-year exclusive contract under ABS-CBN. To thank the TV viewers for their undying support, Sarah is all set to bring total entertainment and world-class production numbers this Sunday (January 20) in “Sarah G. Live!”

Kean Cipriano and Yen Santos Topbill MMK this November 17

For the first time, rock band frontman Kean Cipriano will star in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday (November 17), wherein he will portray the role of John, the loving boyfriend of Lyn (Yen Santos), a conservative lady who based her life decisions on different kinds of sayings that she learned from her mother, aunt and grandmonther.

Lyn connects everything that happens to her to the old beliefs, from the right time to be in a relationship up to the reasons why she is suffering. In the end, which will matter more–Lyn’s long list of sayings or real feelings that she and John have for each other?

Philippines Bags 13 Nominations at the 2012 Asian Television Awards

The Philippines clinched 13 nominations at the 17th Asian Television Awards (ATA) 2012 with ABS-CBN getting 6 nods while GMA-7 and TV-5 each got 3 nominations. For the complete list of nominees, click here.

Asian Television Awards 2012

The Awards comprise over 30 categories and represent the industry's foremost recognition by enjoying the support of every major industry player throughout the region. ATA attracts a multitude of entries from a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air television stations and pay-TV platforms, as well as many independent production houses in Asia.

If we are to include Filipino actor Athur Acuña's nomination as Best Actor in a Supporting Role for The Kitchen Musical, then the Philippines will have 14 nods all in all. However, the said series is produced by a Singaporean-based network, AXN-Asia.

Last year, ABS-CBN's The Bottomline With Boy Abunda won as Best Talk Show while the theme song of TV-5's Star Confessions "Ikaw Ang Buhay Ko" won the the Best Theme Song.

The winners of the 17th Asian Television Awards will be announced during the Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner in December 6 at the Singapore Shangri-La Hotel.

Coco Martin, ASAP, Bandila, Sharlene San Pedro Nominated at 2012 Asian Television Awards

ABS-CBN  received 6 nominations at the 2012 Asian Television Awards (ATA), the 17th edition of Asian TV industry's most significant and celebrated event, recognizing excellence in programming, production and performance. 

Coco Martin, ASAP, Bandila, Sharlene San Pedro Nominated at the 17th Asian Television Awards 2012

Coco Martin is nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in the Maalaala Mo Kaya: Kamao episode which already bagged the special prize in the 2012 Seoul International Drama Awards.

For the Best Actress in a Leading Role category, it will be child star Sharlene San Pedro who will compete against six others. Sharlene received the nomination for her performance in the Maalaala Mo Kaya: T-Shirt episode. The said episode is a finalist at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prize.

ABS-CBN’s late night newscast Bandila: Sendong's Wrath is competing for the Best News Programme category against shows from Hong Kong and Singapore. Bandila already won the Best News Programme in 2007 for its coverage of the Subic rape case.

ABS-CBN News’ Chief correspondent Korina Sanchez was nominated in the Best Current Affairs Presenter category for her show Rated K. She will be up against six other presenters from India, Singapore and Malaysia.

ASAP Rocks: Gives Back will vie with TV shows from from Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong and Indonesia in the Best Music Programme category.

Meanwhile, The Bottomline with Boy Abunda is once again competing in the Best Talk Show. Last year, the show won in this category, beating top Asian programs, including Talk Asia of CNN Hong Kong and The Euthanasia Debate of New Delhi Television in India, elevating Boy Abunda as Asia's King of Talk.

The 17th Asian Television Awards 2012 Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony is happening on December 6 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Singapore.

Sharlene San Pedro's MMK Rape Episode (T-Shirt) Finalist on International Awards

Well-renowned international award-giving body Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prize named "MMK: T-Shirt" episode, starred by former child actress Sharlene San Pedro, as one of the finalists under the Television Special Jury Prizes category.

The finals of ABU Prize will be held in Seoul on October 16.

“MMK: T-Shirt” shared the life story of a young girl named Gigi (Sharlene) who was raped repeatedly by his employer and eventually braved the struggles of being a young mother. The said episode was chosen to compete with other five entries from Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka. The 2012 ABU Prize finalists were chosen from 166 entries from 18 countries and 25 organizations.

Together with Sharlene in the “MMK: T-Shirt” episode are Dante Rivero, Justin Cuyugan, Cherry Lou, Joy So, Chienna Roseph Filomeno, and Edrilyn Ocampo. It was researched by Akeem del Rosario, written by Marie Ann Dimaculangan-Fampulme, and directed by Don Cuaresma.

Sharlene San Pedro Plays a Young Mom in MMK this April 21

Former “Goin’ Bulilit” child star Sharlene San Pedro topbills the ‘Batang Ina’ episode of “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday (April 21).

Sharlene bravely took the role because she believes in the beauty of the letter sender’s lifestory. “I’m thankful that MMK chose me for the episode. The role as a young mother is very challenging and it will surely give lessons to the viewers,” she said.

Sharlene will portray the role of Gigi, a young child who had to sacrifice her dreams and her studies and work as a maid because of poverty. Gigi’s dreams turned into a nightmare when she was raped repeatedly by his employer. Unfortunately, she got pregnant and had to face difficulties of being a young mother.


Together with Sharlene in the ‘Batang Ina’ episode are Dante Rivero, Justin Cuyugan, Cherry Lou, Joy So, Chienna Roseph Filomeno, and Edrilyn Ocampo. It is researched by Akeem del Rosario, written by Marie Ann Dimaculangan-Fampulme, and directed by Don Cuaresma.

Vina Morales Portrays A Nun in MMK This February 25

Singer-actress Vina Morales portrays the character of a nun in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” this Saturday (February 25).


She gives life to the role of Jane, a teacher who stood up to her faith and became a nun despite of her family’s disapproval. But Jane eventually left the convent to marry the man she unexpectedly fell in love with. 

Unfortunately, Jane’s faith will be tested with her husband’s infidelity.

Together with Vina in the “MMK” episode are Mark Gil, Gina Pareño, Boots Anson-Roa, Mikylla Ramirez, Sharlene San Pedro, Menggie Cobarubbias, Tess Antonio, Eda Nollan, Almira Muhlach, Khaycee Aboloc, Patrick Sugui, and Johan Santos.
